August 14, 1964 The Rolling Stones score their first #1 hit in the UK with their cover of Bobby Womack’s “It’s All Over Now.”

IT'S A CELEBRATION:

In honor of National Kool-Aid Day, try this tasty ice cream recipe!

Ingredients:

  • 1 – packet 0.14 oz unsweetened kool-aid, any flavor 
  • 1 – cup granulated sugar 
  • 2 – cups whole or 2% milk
  • 1 – cup half & half 

Directions:

  • Mix the packet of unsweetened Kool-Aid mix together with the granulated sugar.  
  • Add the milk, half & half and mix until fully dissolved. 
    Pour mixture into a shallow freezer container. 
  • Freeze for 1 – 2 hours until it has slightly thickened. 
    Transfer mixture to a bowl and beat until smooth ( a wired whisk is best to use). 
  • Return to freezer container, cover and freeze 8 hours or over night.  
  • It is best to Remove 20 minutes before serving to soften slightly.

Create Your Own Album Covers!

This week we highlighting music in many forms. If you look into The Quote of the Day, Hip Hop Icons was highlighted and showed how the artist highlight had a huge influence on the Hip Hop culture and community. Now it’s your turn to highlight yourself! Think of you and your community. We would like you to create you Album cover. What would you display on your album cover? Please be tasteful, positive, creative, and non-voguer. What message would you like to show to your family, friends, and people in your community? What would you want them to say about you with just the look of you cover? Once you create your OWN album cover, you can display, show, and discuss your album during the BGCCP Live virtual Teen Program.  This happens Fridays afternoon at 1pm. This is Lyricism 101
