ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY:

1967: Disneyland’s attraction Adventure Thru Inner Space opens on this day in Tomorrowland (in the space once used for the 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea Exhibit). Guests are transported through a microscope where they are shrunken down and sent off to explore the inside of an atom. Featuring the voice of Paul Frees & the song “Miracles from Molecules” written by the Sherman Brothers, it is the first to use the OmniMover system – called Atomobiles – to transport guests.

Background: A Midsummer Night’s Dream is a comedy about love gone awry when others intervene. In the following scene, a group of amateur actors go to the woods to rehearse a scene to be performed at an Athenian wedding. A group of fairies, led by Puck, who also narrates the play, cast a spell over one of the actors, giving him the head of a donkey. Titania, the queen of the fairies who has accidentally taken a potion which will cause her to fall in love with the first person she sees, wakes up to see Bottom and falls in love with him.
