ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY:

Jane M. Bolin attended Wellesley College, graduating with honors in 1928. On this day in 1939, the mayor of New York City appointed Bolin making her the first female African American judge in New York. She was reconfirmed by the next three mayors, serving for ten years.

IT'S A CELEBRATION:

July 22, 2020 is National Hammock Day!

What’s a hammock, you say? A hammock is a large sling made of fabric that suspends between two trees or posts. It’s a symbol of leisure, relaxation, and easy-living! Did you know that it was invented by the Mayans, or native-born people of Central and South America, who called them “Hamacas”, in the Taino language? Or that in1597 The Royal Navy adopted the hammock as the official bed for sailors?
