QUOTE OF THE DAY:

-COACH KAY YOW
CURRENT EVENT:

This week, Christian from the Dr. Ledyard E. Ross Unit spoke to us about how he think COVID-19 is going to affect Halloween this year. What do you think? Do you agree with him or disagree?

ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY:

October 9, 1946: On October 9, 1946, the first electric blankets went on sale in the US for $39.50. These blankets were controlled by a thermostat that was separate from the blanket to change the temperature of the blanket. Electric blankets now are much more advanced and can determine the correct heat to produce based on a person’s body temperature or even the room temperature. Have you got your blanket for the winter yet??

IT'S A CELEBRATION:

It’s World Post Day! 📬

Today we challenge you to thank your mail carriers and post masters.  You can also take the time to put your electronic devices down and write a letter to someone and actually mail it off.

BRAIN TEASER:

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHT:

This week’s Program Highlight is MONEY MATTERS. In a time where job security and health are both unpredictable, it’s important to be financially literate. The objective this week is to teach you quick tips and “need-to-knows” so you can educate your family and prepare yourself for the future.

For today’s activity I want you to be mindful of protecting your identity. With the world becoming more and more tech savvy that means so are the hackers. Here are some tips on how to keep your identity safe:

  1. Use strong passwords. Here’s a link where you can type in your password to determine how effective it is https://howsecureismypassword.net/
  2. Turn off geotagging. You can find this on platforms like Snapchat and Instagram
  3. Monitor your friend request; Change your social media account(s) to private.
  4. Never open or click on links asking you to send money

Share these tips with friends and family.
